Three Outdoor Spaces Designed for Movement, Discovery, and Joy

At Puzzles Academy, we know that children need time and space to move, explore, and connect with the world around them. Outdoor play is a vital part of healthy child development, and our three playgrounds are designed to meet children where they are—developmentally, physically, and socially.
Whether it’s a first step on padded ground or a group game with preschool peers, our outdoor environments encourage children to grow their bodies and their confidence through purposeful, play-based movement.
Three Playgrounds, Purposefully Designed
Each of our three playgrounds offers a safe, engaging space for age-appropriate outdoor play.
Two are designed specifically for toddlers, and the third serves our Twos through Pre-K learners. While our infants typically play indoors or in the Soft Zone, they occasionally enjoy time outdoors on the toddler playgrounds when they’re developmentally ready.
Toddler Playgrounds (2 Play Areas)

These two spaces are tailored to meet the needs of our youngest movers—those still mastering walking, climbing, balancing, and exploring the world with their whole bodies. With soft surfaces and scaled-down features, toddlers can move safely and confidently.
Features include:
• Low climbing structures and slides
• Push toys and balance equipment
• Natural elements like logs and climbing mounds
• Open space for supervised movement and exploration
• Appropriate challenges that promote confidence and coordination
Note: Infants who are mobile enough may join in outdoor time here when weather and staffing allow.

Twos Through Pre-K Playground (1 Shared Space)
Our larger playground is designed for children in our Twos, Threes, and Pre-K programs. This shared space encourages active play, peer collaboration, and greater physical challenge as children grow in strength and skill.
Features include:
• Larger climbing structures and slides
• Tricycles, tunnels, and open-ended play areas
• Open space for group games and free movement
• Rotating materials that support creativity and exploration
• Social opportunities for mixed-age interaction and play
Aligned with Our Learning Models
While our playgrounds currently offer minimal shade coverage, we recognize the importance of sun protection and are actively exploring ways to add more shaded areas in the future. We continue to evaluate our outdoor environments to ensure they remain safe, inviting, and developmentally appropriate for all age groups.

Why Outdoor Play Matters
Outdoor time is more than a break in the day—it’s an essential part of how children learn and grow. We use outdoor play as an extension of the classroom, allowing children to:
• Build strength, coordination, and gross motor skills
• Practice social interaction and cooperative play
• Explore nature and engage their senses
• Release energy and regulate emotions
• Gain independence and confidence through movement
